The Cause announces ‘The beginning of the end’

Now towered by flats on all sides the end is in sight for The Cause but with no firm date in the diary, The Cause are fighting till the last party before the inevitable happens. Now up and running on all engines with 8 rooms, The Cause is a labyrinth of indoor and outdoor spaces nestled around a huge 25,000 sqft site. Slowly turning into one of the largest clubbing spots in the capital, the team have lined up as many parties as possible before impending residential issues arise from the new neighbours. Some tickets start from as little as £5 throughout the next three months with key promoter highlights being Lobstertfest, Adonis, Tribes, Rumbellion Festival, Boiler Room Festival and Faith’s 21st birthday.

Stuart Glen, co-founder of The Cause says “The writing really is on the wall for The Cause in its current format and we’re absolutely gutted to see the club winding down. Since opening in April 2018 with a half complete 400 capacity room only, we’ve continually developed the space, taking over neighbouring sites and grown into much more than we ever could imagine.

Now finally, it really does feel like the odds are stacked against us with multi-story residential buildings rising up all around us and the challenges we undoubtedly will face by impending residents. Until those pressures hit though, we’re making the most of it and we recommend you do too… it’s too much of a special place not to.”

Keen queer clubbing royalty Adonis will be taking up every first Saturday of the month until the doors shut shop, with Lobsterfest coming in on Saturday 4th September. Rumbellion Festival will be taking over the site on Sunday 19th September with Congo Natty, Iration Steppas, Dub Pistols, King Tubby’s and more. Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th October plays host to Boiler Room Festival.

Some key names all penned to play over the next few months include Ben UFO, Axel Boman b2b Kornel Kovacs b2b Pedrodollar, Randomer, Angel D’Lite, Mathew Jonson live, Move D, Paramida, DJ Masda, DMX Krew, Benji B, Call Super, Peach, Paris and Will Bankhead alongside residents Paranoid London, Jerome Hill, Silverlining, Michelle Manetti, System Inc, Running Hot, Marcia Carr and Amaliah.

Beyond the above, The Cause has lined up JAWDANCE on 24th September, a new full venue show spanning the faster harder end of dance music. Think Hardcore, Gabba and Jungle. Saturday 23rd September will witness Faith’s 21st birthday and Halloween’s Saturday 30th October will partake in the self-promoted 2021: A Rave Odyssey (The Cause Halloween special).

Just over three years ago The Cause popped up on our radars, the limited 400 capacity club had some big ambitions with a tiny space. Rooting itself in DIY club culture and embedding itself in all things good about clubbing. The Cause slowly grew in popularity and size. Fast forward to today, just after its 3rd birthday The Cause now spans a huge complex and is recognised as an innovative clubbing experience like very little in the capital.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and The Cause is no different. Now towered by flats on all sides, the club’s days are numbered and this is quite possibly the last few months of The Cause as we know it. So as always they are going in all guns blazing, not closing doors until the powers that be really do stop the party.
