New research from Uber has found that The Congestion Charge (45%), Low Emission Zones (40%) and the increased number of cycle lanes/cycle ways (34%) are the most widely recognised ways that climate change is being tackled in the capital.

The research has been commissioned to coincide with the Go-Get Zero, Uber’s global sustainability product event, which is being held in London. London has more electric vehicles on the Uber app than any other global city where Uber operates, beating 10,000 other cities for the title of Uber’s most electrified city.

Climate-conscious Londoners are also more likely to purchase a product or a service due to its sustainability credentials, with 62% saying they are more likely to choose a business for this reason.

At Uber’s Go-Get Zero event, Uber will provide a preview of new product features and services to make it easier for riders and drivers to go green.

The research also revealed that Londoners are most proud of the city’s architecture, with over two-fifths (41%) of London residents saying this makes them proudest, whilst 40% are most proud of the city’s cultural diversity.

To celebrate the conference being held in London, artist Dreph has created a mural of Uber Driver Imtiaz Hussain Elahi. The giant hand-painted mural has been created in Brixton, to recognise London’s EV driver community.

Following the unveiling of the mural, Uber Driver Imtiaz said ’I’m proud to be highlighted as one of Uber’s EV drivers, I think it is important, especially in London, to look to reduce our emissions to make London a healthier city to live in’.
