The Green Quarter Project Director wins Pride in the Job Quality Award for second year running

Berkeley West Thames Project Director Stephen Still and his team have won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House-Building Council (NHBC). Selected from a field of more than 10,000 candidates, he was given the accolade in recognition of his and his team’s efforts at The Green Quarter.

The West London development combines the natural world with modern living, and Stephen and his team have worked tirelessly to create a place that seamlessly features both. This is the second year running that Stephen and his team have won the award, impressing the judges with their approach to quality and attention to detail, as well as their thorough inspection regime and digital records.

Stephen Still, Project Director at Berkeley West Thames, comments: “Winning this award is an achievement for everyone working at The Green Quarter, especially as it recognises our consistently high standards two years in a row. Every day I see the commitment and dedication of the team to building high-quality homes and developing a place filled with trees, plants and wildlife for the whole community to enjoy. We’re all excited and motivated by the vision for this former brownfield site, but – of course – it is fantastic to have our efforts recognised as well. Thank you to NHBC for organising the awards.”

Judging for this year’s Pride in the Job Awards scheme began in July 2020 and was focused around six key aspects of a site manager’s role: consistency, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety. The programme features four categories for different sized businesses, with Stephen winning in the large housebuilder group. The Quality Award winners – the top five per cent of entrants – will now progress to the Seal of Excellence stage of the competition, which will be announced in the Autumn.

The Green Quarter is a redundant former industrial site which Berkeley is transforming into a place rich in nature and wildlife.
