The JCA | London Fashion Academy announces Her Highness Al Sayyida Basma Al Said of Oman as guest ‘well-being’ speaker at its virtual Discovery Day
Today the JCA | London Fashion Academy announces its second open day on Wednesday 28th April, with special guest speaker Her Highness Al Sayyida Basma Al Said of Oman, an expert in mental health and well-being. She will be joining the virtual open day alongside other JCA team members, to advise students on the importance of mental health and well-being during higher education.
The Academy, which announced its launch in January to a global fanfare, is spearheaded by luxury shoe pioneer, Professor Jimmy Choo. Situated in Mayfair, the Academy seeks to revolutionise higher education and is on track to become the UK’s newest university exclusively dedicated to fashion. It will combine the latest teachings in contemporary fashion design with commercial incubation, providing students with the skills and behaviours needed to become successful design entrepreneurs. The JCA’s ultimate goal is to seek out and nurture the next wave of fashion pioneers, developing world leading fashion designers of the future.
Prospective students attending the two-hour virtual Discovery Day will meet the team behind the JCA, to discover more about the Foundation, Degree and Masters courses available and to learn more about the kind of immersive student experience that the Academy is wanting to be known for.
Recognising the importance of mental health and student well fare, the JCA has enlisted Her Highness Al Sayyida Basma of Oman to attend this virtual forum. A graduate of the University of Jordan and the University of Australia, Her Highness is a well-established Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. She has also been honoured as one of the 50 Omani women who has played a significant role in the country’s development.
“Mental health and well-being has never been so important for the younger generation”, states Her Highness Al Sayyida Basma of Oman. “Am so thrilled to be joining the JCA’s Discovery Day and will be advising all those budding fashion designers and entrepreneurs on recognising the importance of wellness during higher education.”
The Academy is currently taking direct applications for September 2021 and students can apply even if they have submitted their UCAS choices and are holding offers elsewhere.
