The Most Beloved Brunches and Sunday Lunches 2023 in London revealed

Brits are planning to show gratitude to their Mums this Mother’s Day in the form of dining experiences, according to a recent survey commissioned by OpenTable, a global leader in restaurant technology.1 With over half of Brits (56%) looking to celebrate at a restaurant or with a special dining experience such as a wine tasting or afternoon tea, OpenTable has released its annual list of the 100 Most Beloved Brunches and Sunday Lunches in 2023. Book by March 12th to reserve a spot Mum is sure to love, as last year half of reservations were made one week prior to Mother’s Day.

For the 32% who said they find it difficult to discover a restaurant their Mum will enjoy, this list is the perfect starting point for inspiration. This year, restaurants spanning the entirety of the UK made the cut, and Scotland dominates the list with 19 restaurants featured, closely followed by London with 11 and Yorkshire with 7.

Robin Chiang, VP of Global Sales and Services, OpenTable comments: “Valentine’s Day dining was up 14% vs. last year3, indicating that diners are doubling down on dining out for special occasions – and we anticipate this momentum will continue for Mother’s Day dining, too. Our survey also found that nearly one third of Brits are willing to spend more on a meal with Mum vs. 2022, a good sign for the dining industry despite current macroeconomic conditions.”

Nearly one-third (32%) of Brits plan on spending more money on their Mum than in previous years, with an average planned spend of £92. Regionally, diners are looking to splurge the most in Northern Ireland (£159), London (£142) and Wales (£126) this Mother’s Day.

Brits are also looking to go all out for Mum in other ways: 39% are planning to request Mum’s favourite dessert at the time of booking and 30% are planning to have her favourite beverage on arrival. To add a special request when booking via OpenTable web or app, simply add a note under “Any special request?” upon confirmation – 20% of Brits utilised this feature last Mother’s Day.
