The National Gallery is issuing its final call for tickets to its ‘Picture Perfect Christmas’ Show

National Gallery’s ‘Picture Perfect Christmas’ Show is in its final week of performances, and now’s the time to book tickets for this wonderfully festive family event before it ends on 23 December. Running every day, four times a day from 17 December through to 23 December 2022, this festive theatrical production brings art and theatre together, in an adventure of the secret life that lives within art, for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets can be booked via the National Gallery website.

The production, created with Boo Productions, sees Avercamp’s iconic 17th century oil painting, ‘A Winter Scene With Skaters Near A Castle’, adapted for the stage. In a first-of-its-kind event for The National Gallery, the Picture Perfect Christmas Show sees the Theatre transformed into a wintery theatrical feast, and has been loved by parents and children galore since its first show on 26 November.

Audiences delve into the story of two children Frederick and Maaike on their journey through the woodlands, meeting magical creatures, wandering through frosted landscapes and skating on glistening ice rinks. Expect catchy songs, dancing and Christmas cheer all to the backdrop of the icy Netherland’s in the 1600’s.

Audiences are invited, before or after the performance in The National Gallery Theatre, to explore all of The National Gallery, which is free-of-charge, and all it has to offer. Located in the heart of London in Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery is widely recognised as one of the most prestigious galleries of its kind and is home to some of the world’s most important and influential art by Bellini, Cézanne, Degas, Leonardo, Monet, Raphael, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rubens, Titian, Turner, Van Dyck, Van Gogh and Velázquez.

When looking for somewhere to relax before the production, The National Gallery’s Muriel’s Kitchen Pop Up Café is the ultimate destination to eat, drink and be merry. Guests can take a moment to tuck into cookies, sweets, and all things nice for little ones, as well as mince pies, festive tipples and soft drinks. Visitors will also find The Espresso Bar for drinks, snacks and sandwiches, Muriel’s Kitchen for something delicious and more substantial, and for fine dining can book a table in the new Gallery restaurant Ochre and enjoy the best of British ingredients with a European twist.
