The Other Art Fair is back for its Summer Session - London TV

The Other Art Fair is back for its Summer Session

Presented by Saatchi Art, The Other Art Fair is back for its Summer Session with a vibrant programme that includes features, installations, charity collaborations, DJs, a fully stocked bar and the chance to discover one hundred of the most exciting independent artists.

Here, art is for everyone with so much to see and do in the King’s Cross area. So why not kick off your summer in style and do something impulsive, get excited, and revel in the creativity.

The popular artist-led fair combines boundary-pushing yet always affordable artworks with immersive installations, performances, and a few curious encounters. The result is an inspiring, inclusive, and vibrant experience that reframes art.

The Summer Session is one of the most exciting showcases for independent emerging artists and an unmissable highlight for London each summer, offering astute collectors and those discovering art for the first time the chance to chat to the artists and buy work directly from the next generation of creators.

The Summer Session will showcase 100 independent artists at West Handyside Canopy hand-picked by the London selection committee which includes Erin Remington, Director of Sales and Curation at Saatchi Art and arts writer Ellen Mara de Wachter.

Look out for Phoebe Power’s visceral works that capture raw emotion through their exploration of life experiences and mental health, abstract artist Charlie French, who embraces a blank canvas as an adventure in imaginative freedom and ceramic visual artist Yurim Gough, originally from Korea, who combines a historic tradition of ceramics with her background in fashion and designing high heeled shoes to create delicate and beautiful ceramic bowls. Plus Rosie Taylor, a knitwear specialist who creates intricate mixed media tapestries, award-winning film director and artist Redbellyboy who draws inspiration from pop culture, film, graphic design and loud music to create vibrant screen prints, and Tabitha Millett, a Cambridge based artist exploring material moments of agency, simplicity, movement and texture through her stylish paintings.

NEW FUTURES ARTISTS

As part of The Other Art Fair’s continued mission to break down traditional barriers of the contemporary art world, New Futures is designed to help launch the careers of emerging
artists by offering a free exhibition space at the fair alongside art mentorship.

Chosen by Fair Founder Ryan Stanier and Megan Wright, Senior Curator Saatchi Art, the winners of this year’s London summer edition of The Other Art Fair are painter and sculptor Marion Aschbacher, a London-based Reunion Island born artist, exploring themes of diaspora and nostalgia in reference to her home country and Keisuke Azuma, a London-based artist born in Japan, whose practice reaches into the complex terrain of emotions and memories, employing landscapes as his primary subject matter.
