The Regenerative Clinic opens a new on-site laboratory in Central London

The Regenerative Clinic, Europe’s largest centre for regenerative medicine based in London’s Harley Street Medical Area, is to launch a Covid-19 testing facility with a 24 hour on-site laboratory.

The new facility will guarantee the return of test results with 24 hours and has the availability to deliver test results within 3 hours for PCR Antigen tests, and 15 minutes for the Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test.

That said, they may be required to stock up on medical supplies, such as testing kits nasal swabs, etc. Nevertheless, supplies such as these can be obtained from medical supply companies such as allswabs ( www.allswabs.com ) and others like them within the region. This can ensure an uninterrupted workflow in the facility. This is an incredibly positive step forward in the fight to slow down Covid-19 and help people get the results they need in a quicker time frame. Additionally, stringent cleaning protocols will be in place to ensure safety at all times, including using products similar to what companies like Golyath, and others, offer to help with keeping cleanliness a number one priority.

Simon Checkley, CEO, The Regenerative Clinic, says; “By setting up our own private lab we are helping to circumnavigate the backlog that we are seeing across London, and offer a good value price with the fastest turnaround times available. Predominantly, we wanted to increase the ease of Covid-19 testing for our own existing patients at The Regenerative Clinic. Having experienced some delays in test returns from sending out samples to already very busy laboratories, we’ve decided to take the step of investing in our own facility. This not only eases the burden on approved laboratories which are used for NHS testing, but will also give broader access to first rate on-site analysis right in the very heart of Central London.”

The laboratory and testing facility will be based in the Harley Street Specialist Hospital at 18-22 Queen Anne Street, London. Observing strict medical protocols the facility has the potential to test up to a maximum capacity of 1,500 tests per day.

A team of experienced senior laboratory technicians has been recruited to head up testing and analysis with several brought in from existing Covid-19 testing laboratories. The laboratory will use technology and equipment that has been developed following ISO standards. All the safety measures will be adopted, such as N95 masks, disposable gloves, and PPE kits, to safeguard the health of lab technicians. The lab may buy quality equipment, tools and other necessities from websites similar to unigloves.co.uk to ensure that standard products are used. The new laboratory has applied for UKAS accreditation and is already CQC registered.

Initial testing has taken place with the clinic’s existing orthopedic patients, more general patients from the Harley Street Specialist Hospital. The speed of return within a central London locations will also appeal to other groups such as individuals, corporates and those who urgently need test results returned for travel and business. Tests available include:

COVID-19 PCR Antigen Test (In Clinic) 150

This requires taking a swab from the nose and throat and then analysing the specimen in the on-site lab using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It tests current infection status and a negative test result is sometimes required for travel overseas and return to work. The swabs are analysed at our on-site lab, with results typically provided within 24 hours.

Covid-19 Antibody Test (In Clinic) 150

Using Biozek IgG/IgM Rapid Test, this shows whether you have been previously infected with the virus. It requires a blood prick sample performed in clinic by a medical professional (there is no home service).

Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test (In Clinic) 170

Using Biozek Antigen Rapid Test Cassette, this shows whether you are currently infected with the virus. It requires a nose and throat swab performed in clinic by a medical professional (there is no home service). Infection status can be returned with only 15 minutes.

COVID-19 PCR Antigen Test (Home Kit) from 150

In some cases the same antigen test can be performed at home by the patient. There are optional extras of same day courier (delivery and collection) and a healthcare assistant can visit a patient at home to perform the swab. This tests your current infection status and results provided within 24-36 hours.

The Regenerative Clinic was established in 2017, and there are now more than 40 surgeons involved in the clinic, and each one is a specialist in their traditional discipline.
