The Regent Street Edit extended until 24 December
A pop-up store at 88 Regent Street, featuring six fashion and wellness brands, all with a focus on sustainability, has now been extended until 24 December.
The pop-up, which is supported by Westminster City Council, The Crown Estate and New West End Company, has enabled six small and independent brands to showcase their products on one of the most famous shopping streets in the world.
Petit Pli, LR.D studio, Lab Tonica, 4649.REC, Saywood Studio, and Buttress & Snatch have occupied the space since 2 September benefitting from reaching new audiences through their first physical retail offering and being able to host engaging in-person events for the general public from sustainability panel events to interactive workshops on topics from sleep to sensuality.
One of the brands, Buttress & Snatch has departed the store to focus on Christmas orders, being replaced by the good neighbour, a sustainable menswear brand.
Rachel Kenyon, founder of Buttress & Snatch said:
“I was really sad to leave Regent Street behind, it has been such a fantastic experience to be a part of the project in every way.
We have had a great success in describing our idea for a high street lingerie atelier by doing the real action live in store at number 88.
We have been delighted to have had so many of our followers and customers make special trips in to see us from all over the country. We have done specialist fittings in store for post-mastectomy, showcased our fun shirt recycling project with local office workers bringing in their donations of their waste shirts ready to be re cut and are now in the process of building bespoke work generated through having had access to such a great physical space to take our fittings in.
I’ve valued the experience of working on Regent Street more than I can say. We will build on it and are going into the New Year with plans to find backers for a more permanent location to make our lingerie atelier grow from”.
Cllr Matthew Green, Cabinet Member for Business, Licensing and Planning at Westminster City Council said:
“It’s fantastic to hear such positive feedback from Rachel on her experience at The Regent Street Edit.
One of Westminster City Council’s objectives of this programme is to support independent businesses to grow and it’s clear she’s been able to achieve this by reaching new customers and audiences through this prime retail space on Regent Street.
It’s great to hear of all the people from around the country who have been coming to see the store in person.
With footfall increasing in the West End by twenty per cent since September, I look forward to the many more people that will visit 88 Regent Street especially in the run up to Christmas”.
To celebrate the extension of the pop up until 24 December, the brands will be hosting a late-night Christmas shopping event on Thursday 18 November with botanical teas, mulled wine and Christmas-gift making in store. They will be hosting various events in the lead up to Christmas including an intimate and enlightening talk about the Japanese Kimono and breakfast workshop about how to build a sustainable fashion brand.
The Regent Street Edit is part of Westminster City Council’s pop-up programme to utilise vacant retail space to enable small scale businesses, homegrown start-ups and emerging creative talent to showcase in Central London.
Since May 2021, in partnership with Business Improvement Districts and land and property owners, the council has enabled 13 pop ups, from art installations to fashion and wellness stores, all of which have had a social purpose.
