The Saw Doctors announce Manchester Castlefield Bowl Outdoor Show

Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on Saturday 1st July, with very special guest Damien Dempsey also performing. Tickets for this very special event go on sale at 9.30am on Friday 17th February, available from https://gigst.rs/TSDPR.

“Born into a repressed, catholic, conservative, small-town, agrarian, angst-ridden and showband infested society”, guitarist Leo Moran explains, “The Saw Doctors are trying to preserve the positive elements of our Irish background and marry them to the sounds which have culturally invaded our milieu through TV, radio, social media, 45’s, fast food restaurants, 24-hour petrol stations and electric blankets”.

Discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys on a stormy Tuesday night in Galway City in the late 1980s, The Saw Doctors grew quickly, touring around Ireland and Great Britain, including a six-week stint with The Waterboys on the Fisherman’s Blues tour in 1989.

The Saw Doctors second single, ‘I Useta Lover’ was a surprise Number One hit in Ireland in 1990, remaining top of the charts for nine weeks, going on to become the biggest selling Irish single ever, outselling U2 and Sinéad O’Connor.

The Saw Doctors built on this momentum, making their first trip to the US in 1991, and racking up well-received appearances at numerous prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury, earning a reputation for being a powerful and exciting live band.

Loved and revered by their loyal fans over the past thirty years, The Saw Doctors continue with resilience and an effervescent energy and look forward to playing Sounds of The City, Summer 2023 at Manchester Castlefield Bowl on Saturday July 1st.

The Saw Doctors will be joined by very special guest, Damien Dempsey.
