THE UK’S MOST DEHYDRATED CITIES REVEALED

January is the perfect time to reassess healthy habits. With good hydration important for a balanced lifestyle, today Volvic Touch of Fruit reveals that the average Brit drinks less than half the recommended daily amount of two litres of fluids, with the aim to get the nation to drink more water.

Today’s research reveals tea and coffee are the preferred beverages to improve hydration levels followed by water, with 1 in 4 Brits (26 per cent) admitting they would consume more water if it tasted better. To make it more enjoyable, 22 per cent of Brits prefer flavoured water to shake up their hydration habits, with lemon and strawberry the most popular tasting notes to give their water a burst of flavour. Fresh and fruity tastes are generally the most sought-after flavours, followed by zingy and citrussy.

To kickstart the year with healthy habits, 28 per cent of adults have made a resolution to stay more hydrated and become a healthier version of themselves, and 27 per cent are eager to cut back on the sugary drinks they consume day-to-day.

This new research shines a light on the need – and desire – for improved hydration habits across the country, with two thirds (64 per cent) of adults aware they should drink more water than they currently do each day. Yet, half of Brits forget to regularly refill their glass, and 1 in 4 find themselves too busy to fit sips into their schedule.

For those seeking guidance on how to kickstart their wellness journey, content creator, Made in Chelsea star, and Wednesday’s We Drink Wine podcast host Sophie Habboo is creating a brand-new hydration focused series in collaboration with Volvic Touch of Fruit. In the content series, Sophie will be swapping wine for water with tasty recipes on her Instagram (@sophiehabboo). Sophie will be sharing various hydration hacks with the goal of helping dehydrated Brits drink more consistently throughout the day.

Sophie Habboo said, “I’ve loved working with Volvic Touch of Fruit to help curate hydration tips. I’ve always had a hard time drinking water that lacks any flavour, so drinking the right amount every day has always been a struggle. These tips have been a lifesaver for helping me stay hydrated, and I’m excited for people to recreate the recipes for themselves at home!”

The exclusive content will include several helpful tips, with the first part of the series airing on 11th January. It will contain a hydrating mocktail recipe, helping those abstaining from alcohol enjoy the taste of a non-alcoholic drink, along with behind-the-scenes glimpses into Sophie’s daily routines, and the perfect lunch to pair with Volvic Touch or Fruit for a refreshing meal.

Gemma Morgan, Category Director Beverages for Danone UKIRL said, “We’re seeing a nation struggling to stay hydrated despite knowing how crucial it is to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle. We want people to know that drinking enough water is not only essential but can be done in a fun and delicious way, and Volvic Touch of Fruit is there to help people achieve their goals.
