TIME CAPSULE BURIED TO CELEBRATE VE DAY AT SOLD OUT SITE

To commemorate the history of its Millbrook Park development as the former Inglis Army Barracks this VE Day (8th May), housebuilder Barratt London invited pupils from Frith Manor Primary School to bury a time capsule on site. The contents of the time capsule included items made by the students such as a clay plaque, a collection of portraits and a poem which will be buried for many years to come.

The time capsule burial will not only honour the site’s legacy and historic significance but will celebrate the end of sales on-site as the development, on Bittacy Hill, comes to an end.

Rhodri Thomas, a teacher from Frith Manor Primary School, commented “This event gave us an exciting opportunity to encourage our Year 5 pupils to think about how the past connects with the future. The contents will reflect the experiences and changes that have taken place as we transition out of the pandemic, a period which will no doubt hold a significant place in history.”

Thomas continues: “Thank you to Barratt London for providing us with this interactive learning experience and allowing the children to include their creations which one day, years from now, will be dug up and explored, a concept which they have found very exciting.”

Ed McCoy, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt West London, said: “Millbrook Park has been one of our most popular developments to date, so it was important for us to honour its history and the success we have had on-site. I’d like to thank the staff and pupils of Frith Manor Primary School for making our VE Day celebrations so special and bringing along such thoughtful items to include in the time capsule. In combination with a newspaper from today’s date (6th May), photographs of the site team, and a Queen’s Jubilee flag, I hope we have effectively painted a picture of life in Mill Hill during 2022.”
