TNT SPORTS ANNOUNCES GRENFELL ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB DOCUMENTARY AS PART OF NEW PARTNERSHIP

TNT Sports has today announced a documentary as part of a new partnership with Grenfell Athletic Football Club (GAFC), a community football team established following the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower Fire on 14th June 2017.
TNT Sports will use the scale of its platforms, its expertise and people to support and tell the stories of Grenfell Athletic Football teams, raising awareness of their endeavour to support and propel their community through the togetherness that sport brings.

To drive awareness around the impact of the grassroots community football teams, TNT Sports has commissioned and is currently producing a documentary which will tell the story of Grenfell Athletic, entitled Beacon of Hope: The Grenfell Athletic Story, charting its inspiring journey and the positive impact the teams have had on the community and individuals within it. Following the story of the people behind the club, the men’s football team, and showcasing the women’s football team in full for the first time, the documentary will air on TNT Sports at the end of year (2025).
As a particular focus of the partnership, TNT Sports will partner with GAFC’s women’s team to provide mentorship and insight into the world of sport broadcasting and wider media industry operations. This will also include being a part of the new TNT Sports Team Talks initiative where the channel’s pundits and presenters will share their knowledge and expertise with those interested in a career in sports broadcasting.
Filming the documentary comes at an exciting time for the teams, with the Women’s team narrowly missing promotion to the Greater London Women’s Division 1 South, the Men’s team moving up to the Surrey Southeastern Combination Premier Division 1 and the Sunday Men’s team winning the Greg Ward Cup (Middlesex) last season. TNT Sports will showcase GAFC’s successes across its UK sports coverage alongside donating funds to help support the club.
To celebrate and mark the start of the partnership TNT Sports surprised the Women’s team at pre-season training with a visit from Anita Asante and deliver an inspirational ‘Team Talk’, a new short series which will air across TNT Sports over the coming months which will see incredible women giving their personal ‘team talks’ to players from grassroots football clubs.
Commenting on the partnership Rupert Taylor, Founder of Grenfell Athletic, said ‘Our partnership with TNT Sports marks a key milestone in the club’s journey. Having the opportunity to tell the full story of how Grenfell Athletic Football Club came to be, the impact it has had on the community and our ambitions for the future is an exciting moment for all involved. Working with TNT Sports means we can not only further showcase the club but offer a range of career opportunities for our players. As our teams continue to grow, we look forward to achieving our goal of becoming everyone’s second favourite football team.’
