Tom Harwood has been appointed US Political Editor for GB News, in a move which will see him relocate to Washington DC ahead of the 2026 midterm elections and become a new host on The Late Show Live.

Tom will present the programme from Monday to Thursday, while Ben Leo will continue to present on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Tom said: “It is a huge honour to be promoted to US Political Editor at such a pivotal time for this country, the United States, and the world. Now, more than ever, on matters of peace, prosperity, and technological progress, an understanding of how Washington is thinking is to get a head start on British politics and policy down the line too.

“I’m delighted to be moving to DC in time for the midterm elections, as so much that matters for the whole world could be decided across an ocean in a matter of weeks. From beefing up our weekday daytime coverage from Washington, to hosting the Late Show Live, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

The appointment follows the conclusion of Bev Turner’s successful year-long secondment in the United States. Bev will now return to London, having played a leading role in building GB News’ coverage from America.

During her secondment, Bev anchored The Late Show Live on Monday to Thursday and secured two agenda-setting world exclusive interviews with President Donald Trump. Both made headlines across the globe and underlined GB News’ growing position in American political journalism.

Tom added: “It will be brilliant to work alongside the inimitable Ben Leo, whose reporting across the United States has set the bar for some truly unmissable television over the last twelve months. I also want to say a huge thank you to my friend Bev Turner, for her incredible work over the last year, in particular securing two landmark interviews with the President of the United States.”

GB News announced its expansion into the United States in June 2025, opening a Washington DC bureau with a studio close to the White House. Its nightly live programme from the US capital launched that September, adding 14 hours of fresh live coverage to the schedule every week.
