Tories are lagging in the polls ‘because we haven’t been conservative enough,’ says Philip Davies MP

THE Conservative Party is lagging in the polls “because we haven’t been conservative enough,” MP Philip Davies has claimed.

He told GB News: “The point is that as conservatives it’s no good blaming the voters or blaming the Reform party for the situation that we’re in.

“We’re not in the situation that we are in the polls because of the Reform party. We’re in the situation we’re in because of us. That’s the issue.”

In a discussion with Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce, he continued: “So, the solution is in our own hands. It is not about going around and then blaming the Reform party. We’ve got to win these voters back by ourselves, by what we do.

“Rishi Sunak has got a good programme. We’ve got to sort out immigration. We’ve got to sort out the economy.

“There’s no victory for us at the election without sorting out immigration, so we’ve got to do that ourselves. It’s no good blaming anybody else.”

He added: “The key point is we’ve got to persuade people at the General Election that they’re better off having a Conservative government than a Labour government.

“It will be one or it will be one or the other. And that’s what our job is supposed to be.”
