Tottenham charity in final push for £5,000 prize
A Tottenham charity which supports disabled people and their families is seeking a final push for votes in its quest to win £5,000 as a nationwide competition enters its final week.
Markfield community centre and adventure playground, based in Markfield Park, is one of 12 finalists from around the UK going before a public vote in the Selco Stars competition, which attracted hundreds of entries.
Leading builders merchant Selco Builders Warehouse – which has a branch in Tottenham on White Hart Lane – has organised the competition, designed to support charities and community groups.
Over each of the last six months, judges have selected two causes to receive £500 worth of building materials and the shortlisted groups are now aiming to top a vote and land a cash windfall.
The race to secure the £5,000 top prize is in full swing and people have until Wednesday, May 22nd to cast their votes.

Markfield is an inclusive community hub in Tottenham. Its services include after-school clubs and holiday playschemes for disabled children, arts and social clubs for disabled adults, family support services and community drop-in sessions.
The charity is looking to revamp its soft play area and would use the money from Selco to make that dream a reality.
