Mums Who Build was founded in 2023 by Georgie Harris and Bex Coxshall (pictured above) to give ambitious mums the confidence, community and financial security they often lose during and after maternity leave. It was created as a direct response to the “motherhood penalty”, the loss of identity, and the lack of flexible, empowering support available to women navigating work, money and ambition after having children.

Both founders experienced firsthand the financial changes that motherhood brings. Harris’ first child was born with complex needs, meaning there was no way she could return to her previous career in beauty PR. She also quickly found herself in need of a new, supportive community who understood. While Coxshall’s experience of her parents’ divorce and her mother’s subsequent financial struggles as the main carer, coupled with her own experience in financial services, convinced her that more financial support for mothers was sorely needed.

As one of three design-led London workspaces developed with founders in mind, Tradestars Islington will host the first event on 29 January 2026. The new Mums Who Build app will act as a central hub where mums can build financial confidence, connect with each other, swap skills, access expert support, and discover opportunities. It’s designed to take mums from “winging it” to building a money-strong, ambition-led future with a community that genuinely gets it.

Roy Shaby, founder and CEO of Tradestars, commented: “As someone with a mother who was pivotal to my journey and inspired me daily, the Mums Who Build mission really resonates. We knew financial hardship when I was younger, and more practical financial education coupled with strong support could make a real difference to people’s lives. What Georgie and Bex are doing is incredible, and, as a home for ambitious and creative founders, many of whom are women, Tradestars is keen to support them on their journey.”

Georgie Harris, co-founder of Mums Who Build, added: “We’re so excited to be partnering with Tradestars. Roy and Jake instantly understood our mission — to help mums build financial confidence, community and futures that work alongside motherhood. Mums don’t lack ambition; what’s been missing is support that reflects real life. Real change happens when women are backed by allies and spaces that truly get it, and Tradestars does exactly that.”

The Tradestars concept was designed by business founder, Roy Shaby, who experienced the frustration of not having the type of workspace he needed to help his business grow and thrive. With locations in Hackney Wick and Southwark as well as Islington, studios are suitable for a wide range of businesses from beauty salons to ecommerce to food and drink to creative entrepreneurs. Tradestars is already home to a wide range of companies, from tattoo artists to hairdressers to TikTok shops to architects and creative agencies.
