Uber’s Naughty or Nice Booth Set To Reward ‘Nice-List’ Riders with Free Christmas Train Journeys Home
This festive season Uber is rewarding its nicest riders, those who have an above-average rider rating of 4.83 or above with Uber credit for a train ride home for Christmas. Uber will be hosting a festive naughty or nice booth at the UK’s busiest station, Waterloo station for commuters to redeem Uber credit if they can prove they are a ‘nice’ rider.
In 2022, it was reported that 15 million people travelled by train over the Christmas period. With so many people relying on trains to get home to their loved ones for Christmas, it’s the perfect time for Uber to spread a little Christmas travel cheer and take one more stress away during the busy festive period.
Earlier this month Uber revealed the average rider rating in the UK was 4.83, with some big variations across different towns and cities. Merseyside riders are firmly at the top of the nice list this year with a score of 4.9, closely followed by Cambridge and East Anglia (4.89) and Stoke (4.88). Those in London will need to find some festive cheer to bump up their ratings and move up from the naughty list with an average score of 4.72, followed by those in Birmingham who have an average score of 4.76.
Commuters who visit the booth will be asked to show their rider rating in the Uber app, with those boasting an above-average rating, being gifted a green Christmas bauble, with a special code to redeem Uber credit to use for their train home for Christmas. Those who have a rating below 4.83 will be given a red bauble decorated with their rider rating.
Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK said: “Train stations have always been a popular destination for riders, but now with Trains on Uber we can help our customers with the next step of their journey. We’re so grateful for our top rated riders, who make every journey fantastic for Uber drivers and we’re thrilled to be offering them credit towards a train home this Christmas.”
The booth will be open at Waterloo station from December 15-17 at midday each day.
Want to improve your rating?
Both riders and drivers are able to rate one to five stars on a trip. Ratings are the average of the last 500 trips. To help improve your rating, drivers have shared some of the top reasons they hand out fewer stars:
Rude or aggressive passengers. Unsurprisingly, these are the least appreciated by drivers and a quick way to bring your rating down.
Eating in the car. It’s best not to let that breakfast croissant or evening kebab end up all over the seat.
Asking to smoke with the window open or playing music loudly on your phone. It’s never a good idea to treat the car as an after-party.
Slamming the door – a classic! Always best to take care of the driver’s vehicle and treat it with respect.
Refusing to put on your seatbelt. It may seem obvious to buckle up for safety but surprisingly this one still happens.
