UK FIRST – CHIN CHIN ICECREAM LAUNCHES AUGMENTED REALITY SUNDAE FOR EASTER

CHIN CHIN ice cream is back with another creative first. As London gets ready to emerge from pandemic hibernation, the trendsetting dessert specialists are launching into Spring with an augmented reality icecream sundae.

Inspired by the florals popping up across the capital, CHIN CHIN have joined forces with Gordon Cheung Studios to create a 100% plant based interactive sundae encased in digital florals that come to life through your phone screen.

The dessert is a 21st century take on the classic jelly & ice cream and features a coconut milk jelly rabbit, coconut & rose liquid nitro ice cream and edible chocolate & matcha clay. Accompanied by an AR target, the dessert comes to life through an IG filter as flowers emerge and bloom from the matcha soil.

CHIN CHIN’S Augmented Reality Sundae launches on 2nd April, priced £6.95 and will be available from the Soho site. But these bunnies aren’t just for Easter, the dessert will be available for the duration of Spring and Summer.

“We wanted our first new dessert on the menu this year to be something really special. We love working with like-minded creatives and Gordon Cheung Studios is right at the vanguard, using technology in a fun & witty way to ignite a smile. For us, a digital flourish adds another layer of experience to our desserts and brings the whole thing to life.” Ahrash Akbari-Kalhur, co-founder CHIN CHIN icecream.

“It’s been a tough year for all, but with Spring in the air, things are starting to look up. For us, the digital flowers represent the new lease of life we’re all looking forward to enjoying in 2021.”

During lockdown, CHIN CHIN masterminded the UK’s first postable icecream so their desserts could still be enjoyed by fans nationwide whilst the stores remained closed. “Blurring the lines between virtual and reality seemed like the next logical step in dessert innovation. We’re using technology as a garnish.”
