UWL launches sustainable and digital-first graduation partnership

The University of West London (UWL) is delighted to announce a new partnership with Graduation Attire, appointed as the University’s official graduation gowning and photography provider.

The partnership marks a step forward in enhancing the graduation experience for students, bringing together simplicity, sustainability and digital innovation, while also delivering improved value for money.

A seamless, one-stop graduation service

From this year, graduations at UWL will be supported by a fully integrated, end-to-end service, combining gown hire, photography and ticketing into a single, streamlined booking journey.

This one-stop approach is designed to make the graduation process clearer and more accessible for students, reducing complexity and ensuring a smooth experience from initial registration through to the ceremony day itself.

Photography for today’s graduates

Graduation Attire introduces a digital-first photography model, moving away from traditional print-led services. This approach reduces environmental impact while allowing graduates instant, flexible access to their photograph, wherever they are in the world.

Graduates will be able to easily view, download and share their images, offering greater convenience and choice while maintaining high‑quality professional photography.

Supporting circular economy practices

Sustainability sits at the heart of the new partnership. All graduation gowns will be made from recycled plastic (rPET), with each gown repurposing up to 25 plastic bottles.

This initiative helps reduce waste, supports circular economy practices and compliments the University’s wider commitment to embedding sustainability across its operations and student experiences.

Commenting on the partnership, Martin Lewis, CEO of Graduation Attire, said:

“We’re proud to be partnering with the University of West London, with our shared values of sustainability, accessibility and innovation underpinning a seamless and memorable graduation experience for every student.”

Adrian Ellison, UWL’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (People and Digital), added:

“This partnership is a great example of how we’re using digital innovation to improve the student experience in a practical, meaningful way. Bringing everything together into one simple service makes graduation more accessible and straightforward, while also supporting our wider commitment to sustainability.”
