Vanguard Self Storage is celebrating a landmark year across the capital, marked by major charitable initiatives, heritage installations, staff milestones, and significant site enhancements. These achievements reinforce Vanguard’s reputation as one of London’s most distinctive and community-minded independently owned storage operators.
Putting London First
In 2025, Vanguard strengthened its social impact across London, supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference in the community. The company donated storage space to The King’s Trust’s Ultimate Designer Sale, an initiative led by Trinny Woodall, supporting the charity’s “Change a Girl’s Life” campaign. The sale showcased high-end donated clothing and accessories, raising funds to help young women build confidence, skills, and independence.
Vanguard also continued its partnership with The Felix Project, a London charity tackling hunger and food waste. As part of the campaign, a Felix Project van was installed on the rooftop of Vanguard’s West London store, creating a highly visible reminder for thousands of commuters that one in four working Londoners struggles to afford food, with 182,000 families on extremely limited budgets. The installations highlight the issue city-wide and encourage more businesses to get involved.
Heritage Takes Flight
Vanguard further enriched London’s skyline with two aviation tributes at its West London site, including a life-size Supermarine Spitfire replica commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Visible from the A40, these installations continue Vanguard’s tradition of celebrating military heritage and honouring British history.
Investing in London’s Storage Future
Vanguard also invested significantly in its central London footprint. Its Soho branch was expanded by more than 7,000 sq ft, with upgraded technology and security enhancements, providing improved facilities for local businesses and residents in one of the capital’s busiest districts.
Celebrating People, Service, and Local Commitment
The East London branch celebrated work anniversaries for team members Joe Hayes, Branch Manager, Mike Lucki, and Dean Richmond celebrated a massive 27 years with the company, reflecting the strong community culture Vanguard nurtures across its sites. The branch also reached nearly 1,000 Google reviews, with customers consistently praising professionalism, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Bringing the London Storage Sector Together
Vanguard hosted a Self Storage Association (SSA) Member Networking Event at its Staples Corner site. Around 40 self-storage professionals, including SSA leadership, attended a morning of networking, insights, and a guided tour beneath the site’s iconic Hawker Hunter WT555 aircraft – highlighting what makes Vanguard’s London sites unique.
Leadership Comment
Will McCullagh, Managing Director of Vanguard, said, “This has been a milestone year for Vanguard Self Storage. Our growth, heritage initiatives, and dedication to giving back show that storage can be a valuable community asset. We are proud of our team, our customers, and our partners who made these achievements possible.”
Looking Forward
As Vanguard reflects on a dynamic 2025, which ranged from rooftop installations and charity partnerships to targeted site investment, the company is already preparing community collaborations and to celebrate a major milestone in the new year: the 21st anniversary of its East London store. As 2026 approaches, Vanguard remains committed to serving London with purpose, pride, and community at the heart of its operations.
