Veganuary meals, mocktails, cookery school classes and self-care at Islington Square

Situated on London’s Upper Street, Islington Square is kickstarting 2025 with a variety of new vegan meals, non-alcoholic drinks and wellbeing services in a variety of its shops and restaurants, as well as cookery school courses at Borough Kitchen. Visitors can book to learn a new skill or indulge in a day of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Veganuary / Dry January

Islington Square is home to a lineup of strong vegan dining and non-alcoholic drinks options, such as:

Megan’s: Enjoy vegan dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Megan’s. The menu is plentiful – from their Buddha bowl or sweet vegan pancakes to the plant-based lamb kebab, all brimming with fresh ingredients. Also enjoy their line-up of low & no alcohol refreshing drink options including the ‘Virgin Megans’ and ‘Shirley Temple’.
OMNOM: Serving authentic Indian dishes and boasting a plant–based and vegetarian menu made with fresh, local ingredients. Their menu is packed with vibrant flavours, from fresh salads to hearty curries. Vegan dishes specialities include Buffalo Cauliflower Fritters and a tasty Tandoori Chik’n and Jackfruit Biryani. Plus, check out OMNOM’s new non-alcoholic Vegan Mango Lassi, a creamy and tropical drink perfect for Dry January.
Bewliehill: Known for their salad bowls and refreshing smoothies; this café also offers dairy-free coffee options for a guilt-free brew.
The Great Chase: Head here for a completely ‘dry bar’ experience. They offer a variety of handmade cordials from the Gimlet Bar, as well as unique blends of tea from the Rare Tea Company. Plus, all drinks are Fair Trade or Direct Trade, meaning the farmers who grow the ingredients are paid fairly. They also offer vegetarian Sunday roasts and mocktails.
Odeon Luxe & Dine: The premium cinema offers a menu that includes vegan burgers, salads and flatbread pizzas.
Selv Roastery offer an array of alternative milk substitutes, so you can enjoy your favourite coffee just the way you like it, without compromising on taste or ethics.

New skills

Learn new culinary tips at Borough Kitchen’s cookery school. On the menu for January is the ‘Principles of Bread Making Cooking Class’, the ‘Mastering Filled Pasta Cooking Class’, and the ‘Fermentation and Pickling Cooking Class’ among many others. Full list of classes can be found here.
