Victoria Swarovski & House of Arts celebrate artist Alex Katz’s masterpieces in Salzburg

TV celebrity and presenter Victoria Swarovski is happy to announce her latest venture, the curation of an art exhibition with the Salzburg art gallery House of Arts, showcasing iconic masterpieces from New Yorker artist Alex Katz at the legendary Leopoldskron Palace near Salzburg. With a spectacular dinner on the 5th of April 2025, Austria’s art and entertainment industry celebrated an exclusive evening of Alex Katz’s art at Leopoldskron.

Victoria Swarovski, an authorized representative of House of Arts since late 2024, achieved her first massive milestone in her new role and honoured the 97-year-old American artist, known for his large paintings, whose bold simplicity and heightened colors are considered as precursors to Pop Art during this unique and extremely exclusive art dinner and one-night-only exhibition. The exhibition consisted of various prints and as a special surprise ten large sculptures that have never been shown together before. Therefore Victoria Swarovski and House of Arts managed to mesmerize the guests with yet another exclusive world premiere. Amongst the many firsts during this event, Schloss Leopoldkron, even though known for being the glorious location for the so called “Salzburg Global Seminar” between Europeans and Americans (since 1947), has never been hosting a dinner in the elegant and historic library until Victoria Swarovski and House of Arts chose to make it the most special and exclusive spot for such an outstanding event.

As a true and dedicated art connoisseuse herself, TV personality Victoria Swarovski expressed her enthusiasm for this exhibition.

“Alex Katz’s art with his modern, inspiring and eye-catching pieces, is the perfect match with this historic, legendary castle and its magical, old spirit and atmosphere. Being able to showcase his art in my home country Austria means a lot – he is one of the most famous and well known artists of our time and seeing his artwork here in Salzburg for one night only is an honour that I hope was cherished by all guests”, said Victoria Swarovski.

With this event, she managed to celebrate her first big milestone in her new role as an authorized representative of House of Arts, showing off her many talents once again through her dedicated approach to art and her career. The focus on incorporating Austrian craftsmanship and creating a seamless fusion with the modern and eye-catching art by Alex Katz was a great success thanks to the partners of the evening like Viennese artist Robert Comploj who designed 21 mouth blown vases that formed a unique installation to further elaborate the luxurious table setting.

With over 70 years of expertise, Alex Katz has shaped the art world immensely. His artwork is almost evenly split between portraiture and landscape. Since the 1960s, he has depicted scenes of New York – particularly his Soho surroundings – as well as the landscapes of Maine. He also paints portraits of family members, artists, writers, and New York socialites. His style is characterised by flat colours and forms, minimal use of line, and a sense of emotional detachment. His work is displayed in some of the world’s most renowned museums, including the MoMA in New York City, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

The Salzburg exhibition curated by Victoria Swarovski and House of Arts focused on Katz’s iconic sculptures and prints. Victoria Swarovski has known the artist himself since the age of 16 and thanks to their long standing connection and her own knowledge and passion for art, convinced him to showcase his masterpieces in Salzburg to selected guests for one very special evening.
