Virgin Wines and what3words team up for ‘grown up’ Easter egg hunt – with eggcellent prizes up for grabs

To kick off the Easter weekend celebrations, Virgin Wines and what3words are hosting an exclusive Easter egg hunt for grown-ups. Taking place in Shoreditch on Thursday 17th April between 3-7pm, the hunt will challenge participants to use the innovative location technology to find hidden Easter eggs filled with eggcellent rewards, including a year’s supply of wine.

Designed for adventure lovers, wine enthusiasts, and those looking for a unique way to celebrate Easter, the details of the treasure hunt will be revealed on Virgin Wines’ social media channels (@virginwines). Participants will race to crack the code using online clues to find the correct what3words address, leading them to a secret location on Thursday 17th April between 3-7pm, where many prize-filled Easter eggs will be waiting. Those who decipher the clues first have big rewards to claim, including:

A year’s supply of wine from Virgin Wines,
Hot air balloon experience with Virgin Balloon Flights,
A luxurious stay at Virgin Hotels London – Shoreditch,
Electric aircraft flight over scenic Norfolk (where Virgin Wine’s HQ is based),
Virgin Experience Days voucher for a Henners Vineyard Tour & Tasting with a Bottle of Luxury English Sparkling Wine for two people,
Annual Picturehouse membership,
and many more…

what3words provides a simple way to communicate precise locations. The system has divided the globe into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, and assigned each square a unique combination of three dictionary words: a what3words address. This means every parking space, apartment building entrance, picnic spot in a park and viewpoint along an unnamed trail has its own what3words address. For example, ///poppy.hears.deny pinpoints a precise entrance to Victoria Park in London. what3words is available in over 60 languages to date, and treasure hunt participants can download the free app on iOS and Android, or use via the online map at what3words.com

Jay Wright, CEO of Virgin Wines said: “We wanted to bring back a little fun and nostalgia with an Easter egg hunt for adults. We hope as you’re finishing up work for the long weekend, you’ll meet up with friends or join colleagues in giving it a go. With what3words, we’re making it easy for participants to navigate their way to the Easter eggs and claim some truly fantastic prizes.”

Chris Sheldrick, Co-Founder and CEO of what3words added: “The beauty of what3words is its versatility; from in-car navigation and accurate deliveries, to creative use cases such as Virgin Wines’ take on an Easter egg hunt. This fun and interactive challenge showcases the precision of the system – and we encourage everyone to download the app and have a go at cracking exactly where the prizes await.”

This special Easter egg hunt is part of Virgin Wines’ ongoing 25th silver anniversary celebrations. Founded in 2000, the online wine retailer is joyfully raising a glass to being 25 years young, filling 2025 with lots of unforgettable moments and extraordinary events.
