Westminster is the best London Borough to own an electric car, new study reveals
A new study has revealed that Westminster is the best London borough to own an electric car.
The study by used car experts CarGuide.co.uk, analysed the number of electric car charging points on ZapMap and government data to establish which London boroughs have the highest number of charging points per 100,000 population.
The data found that Westminster is the London borough with the highest number of charging points per 100,000 people, at 425.1. This comes as a result of 1,147 total charging points in the area and a population of 269,848. The borough is home to almost double the amount of electric vehicle charging points as Kensington and Chelsea, the second-best London borough for electric car owners.
The second-best London borough to own an electric vehicle is Kensington and Chelsea which has 419.5 charging points per 100,000 people. The borough has 658 charging points, significantly less than Westminster, but with a population of 156,864, this means that the borough provides a far greater level of accessibility to charging points than most.
Hammersmith and Fulham ranks as the third best London borough to own an electric vehicle. The West London borough has 325.8 charging devices per 100,000 people as a result of 598 public charging devices and a population of 183,544. Hammersmith and Fulham also has the second highest number of rapid charging points at 46, just below Greenwich which boasts 50.
Taking the fourth spot is Wandsworth with 192.3 charging points per 100,000 and Richmond upon Thames being the fifth best borough to own an electric vehicle with 176.6 charging devices per 100,000 people.
