Brixton Village has teamed up with CASA FESTIVAL – the arts organisation championing the best in Latinx art, performance, culture, music and film, to deliver an exciting programme of cultural events this September, marking CASA’s return for its 11th festival edition.

Brixton Village will see a public art installation takeover a shop window from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 September for visitors to experience the freedom of bodily expression curated by Cordelia Grierson and Cecilia Kuska.

The installation will see a number of works by some of the best contemporary Latinx artists, including ‘Les Revenants’ – a play-installation by Argentinian directors Luciana Acuña and Alejo Moguillanskym using Chilean performers made up of six dance solos, recorded in empty and ghostly historic buildings in Chile’s capital city Santiago. Also part of the installation will be ‘Casa Comun’ (common home) – an artistic research by British organization SDNA and Brazilian organization RR Produções Artísticas. This multicultural and multimedia collaboration with 10 multidisciplinary Amazonian indigenous artists builds on Renato Rocha’s residency in the Amazon in 2017, where he led theatrical workshops with local artists, indigenous tribes and riverside communities.

A launch party in the Brixton Village courtyard will also take place on Thursday 16 September (6-11PM), to offer visitors the opportunity to meet the brilliant CASA Latinx artist. With live music by Brixton Village Lates, food from some of the markets’ most iconic restaurants, there will also be special drinks for the occasion by Jim AND Tonic.

The Brixton Village events form part of CASA Festival’s wider programme of events across London.
