This summer, Camden Market will turn up the volume and heat with Summer of Sound, a free,
6-week summer-long festival of live music, cultural celebrations, and family-friendly
entertainment, paying homage to the landmark destination’s infamous music heritage and
vibrant spirit.

Headlining the programme will be the atmospheric Back 2 Life Café series, curated by Soul II
Soul founder, British DJ, producer and proud local Jazzie B. This weekly Friday night music event
at Hawley Wharf will feature handpicked DJs, sound system exhibitions and sets spanning
everything from reggae and soul to dance and funk – all free to attend from 5pm to 8pm. Book

The series will begin on 18th July with a special warm-up event featuring Jerry Dammers,
founder of The Specials and Spatial AKA Orchestra, before the official launch on 25th July, with
legendary reggae DJ Selector David Rodigan and his unbeatable collection of vinyl records.

Back 2 Life Café Line-Up:
• 18th July – Jerry Dammers
A pre-launch warm-up from the ska-revival pioneer digging deep into his vinyl archive,
expect Jamaican ska reggae and roots to American rhythm and blues, funk and soul.
• 25th July – David Rodigan
One of the UK’s most respected reggae DJs and radio broadcasters will officially kick off
the Back 2 Life Café series with his enviable collection and energy behind the decks.
• 1st August – Shy One
NTS DJ Shy One exudes eclecticism, representing the capital to the fullest with a unique
dance music sound, always keeping things soulful.
• 8th August – Jazzie B
A special set from Jazzie B himself, the world-renowned founder of music collective Soul
II Soul, the original Funki Dred, and curator of the Back2Life Café series. He’ll be
spinning the biggest and best soul, R’n’B, hip-hop, and dance classics.
• 15th August – Tony Monson (Solar Radio) & Chris Baxter (Soul II Soul)
From soul classics to jazz and expert mixes, these two radio veterans will deliver the
hottest sounds and energy.
