In Wembley Park’s Market Square, which connects the bustling Olympic Way to Wembley Park Boulevard, urban landscaping and creative design have joined forces. The result? An abundance of white cherry blossom that doesn’t just look beautiful, but also works perfectly against the colour of Wembley Stadium’s famous arch.

Cherry trees of Market Square, Wembley Park are planted in large underground pots for easy relocation
Planted in 2014, together with landscape architects Macfarlane Associates, the Wembley Park cherry trees are purposefully placed underground in large pots. This means that the treasured trees can be easily relocated without damage.
The species of cherry tree at Wembley Park is Prunus avium ‘Plena’, commonly known as Double Gean or Double flowered Wild Cherry. It was specifically chosen to flower around the time of the annual FA Cup Semi Finals enabling as many visitors to the neighbourhood as possible, for this popular event, to enjoy the impressive display.
All of Wembley Park’s cherry trees are cared for by the Wembley Park Estates team and mapped on Curio-xyz, a website and app which allows local communities to learn about their environment and identify tree species they see.
