Will Smith Oscars ‘assault’ condemned by Eamon Holmes

ACTOR Will Smith clearly assaulted Oscars host Chris Rock during the Oscars ceremony, said GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes said this morning.

“The more I look at this, the more shocked I am. I mean, we talk about smack or whatever – this was an assault.”

Speaking on GB News, Eamonn later asked US showbiz journalist Kinsey Schofield if the incident occurred because A-list Hollywood celebrities develop a sense of invincibility.

“Do you think celebrities at this level can maybe be lulled into a sense of false security that they’re invincible?” he said.

“Absolutely, I mean, that is exactly what it felt like watching,” she said. “I mean, the way he moved so forcefully towards Chris Rock jumping on a stage that wasn’t his…”

She added: “I don’t think that was a very sincere apology during his acceptance speech. But the tears you saw during his acceptance speech, I feel they were the tears of a man that was completely humiliated by a very poor decision he had just made.

“They were embarrassment tears. They weren’t ‘I’m so proud to be holding this Oscar in my hand’ tears.”

Schofield made her comments during an interview on Breakfast With Eamonn & Isabel on GB News this morning.

“But at home, people thought that perhaps the event was staged to get some people on social media talking and to bring back the excitement into the Oscars.

“This was 100% a poor decision by Will Smith and unfortunately, this was a real true fight that happened live on television in front of millions of people.”
