Publican Jack Greenall, founder of London-based pub group Wren Pubs, has announced the sale of The Carpenter’s Arms in Hammersmith, to be completed today, on Thursday 23rd July. The Carpenter’s Arms is a characterful nineteenth-century pub that sits on a quiet corner near the elegant St Peter’s Square on the Hammersmith/Chiswick border.
Acquired by Wren Pubs in July 2024, the pub underwent a sensitive refurbishment that saw an upgrade to the bar area, private dining room on the first floor – as well as the private garden – and saw sales double over the past two years.
The sale is to owner of the independent pub The Fox and Pheasant in Chelsea – James Blunt – while Toby Milne will be responsible for operations. The new proprietors will take over the pub from today.
Commenting on the news Jack Greenall says: “We are delighted to be handing over The Carpenter’s Arms to such excellent operators of one of the best pubs in West London. This sale was a difficult decision for us, but we are so pleased with what we have achieved to date. It has been an honour to play a role in such a wonderful community and getting to know the locals. Having worked hard to bring this beloved venue back to life, it felt like the perfect moment to pass the pub into new ownership. I am looking forward to The Carpenter’s Arms continuing to receive the attention it deserves – I couldn’t think of a better team to continue its legacy.
We are thrilled to be working on our latest project at 7 Sloane Square, and continuing to focus our efforts on The Surprise and The Walmer Castle as well as exploring further opportunities, ideally with bedrooms in London.”

In March 2026, Wren Pubs announced the purchase of 7 Sloane Square, the latest addition to the portfolio, with further details to be announced in due course.
