Aures London launches LexTempus VLT-001 “The Greats” – A 90-minute full sensory docu-musical that transports passengers to the defining eras of Black American music. A first of its kind, the digital time machine is a celebration and education of Black music that stimulates all five senses with live performance and state-of-the-art technology.

As an immersive experience, LexTempus combines live dancers with studio-quality audio, breath-taking visuals and bespoke cocktails from the venue’s mixologists. A unique night out and a chance to experience music in a whole new way, it is the ultimate experience for music lovers.
Launching in line with Black History Month – which is celebrating its monumental 35-year anniversary – LexTempus journeys through the social and political injustices in American history that shaped Black music and culture. Weaving through the 50s to the 80s, stopping at three destinations where the narrator shines a light on generational pioneers who shaped the soundscape of not only America, but the world.

Produced by Sam Davis, the show commences in the beating hub of 50s and 60s Chicago, unravelling the pain and passion of Black life throughout the golden years of jazz; when rising resistance to segregation fuelled some of the greatest music of all time. Experience dazzling performances and stories from jazz titans of the era: Miles Davies, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
Next stop, The Big Apple – 60s and 70s New York, when the proud to be Black movement birthed a new wave individual style and the iconic Soul Kings. Venture through the style and struggle of Black American life through the height of the civil right movement and civil unrest; with Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye and James Brown conveying their inner-city style and political struggles of that time.
Final stop, San Francisco, California. Embedded in the 70s and 80s, when the end of civil rights movement blossomed a new era of love and unity. The final chapter reveals a period of acceptance and togetherness, championed by the legendary Disco Queens, Chic, Sister Sledge, Donna Summer and Diana Ross.
LexTempus marks the first audio-immersive piece of the Aures’ multi-discipline IMAJON series; utilising innovative technology to create a five sensory experience. Unlike other walk-thru sensory experiences, LexTempus sits the audience centre-stage while the action happens around them. The 35m long 12k screen with 270-degree visuals projects rare images of the 1950’s civil rights movement, through to the joy and shimmer of the shoulder shaking 1970’s soul and disco years.
The carefully curated playlist, digitally immersive technology, and visuals brought to life by live contemporary dancers, leave the audience engulfed in their surroundings. Crystal-clear sound is amplified through a 34 speaker multi-plane hi-fi sound system by Pioneer Pro Audio, while Haptic 4D seating pulsates to the music. Customised scents replicate the aromas of each destination.
This venue below Waterloo Station is transformed into a first-class aircraft that travels through time so you can experience musical greats up close. Leaving guests with a brand-new, elevated appreciation of the artists.
