THE SMELLIEST THEME PARK IN THE UK LAUNCHES THE ULTIMATE HALLOWEEN FRAGRANCE

From organic animal smells to the hand-crafted aromas designed for rides and attractions, guests to Chessington World of Adventures Resort are exposed to an average of 50 smells / per visit, making it (probably) the smelliest theme park in the UK.

Chessington has worked with scent experts, AromaPrime, for over 30 years to create the ultimate multi-sensory, memory-making experience for guests. Now they are delving into the plethora of weird and wonderful smells found across the Resort to develop its funkiest fragrance yet and plans to launch the nose tingling scent in time for Chessington’s Halloween event, Howl’o’ween (running from 15-30 October).

The experts from AromaPrime have put their finely-tuned noses to the ultimate challenge: sniffing out the most pungent and perceptible pongs of Chessington to add to the bespoke Halloween bouquet.

The veritable smorgasbord of smells, from gorilla BO and curry powder to gunpowder and hot dogs, has been whittled down to a potent olfactory blend which includes skunk spray, rhino dung and penguin vomit, all blended with the sweetly creepy and musty smell of Vampire – Chessington’s first-scented roller coaster.

Liam R. Findlay, Scenting Specialist at AromaPrime, said; “We know that a multi-sensory experience is key to core memory as – and here comes the science bit – smell receptors are directly connected to the part of the brain that processes memories and emotions: the limbic system. Smells from your youth have an incredible ability to trigger memories, even if you’re not sure why! That’s why smells are brilliant for enhancing experience and why we know Chessington’s Halloween blend will evoke the childlike, but gruesome fun of the season to heighten the experience of Howl’o’ween.”

Claire Eglinton, Head of Events at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, said; “Whether it’s the individual aroma of each of the 1,000 animals in the zoo, the slew of familiar and comforting smells on The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, musty odour of Tomb Blaster or the welcoming fragrance of the hotels, we are proud to be the UK’s smelliest theme park as we know it helps to enhance each and every element of our guests’ experience. Our Halloween smell is the latest in a long line of olfactory magic crafted to surprise and excite our guests with a new dimension to our iconic Howl’o’ween celebrations.”
