MP BOBBY DEAN SPENDS TIME AT VIBRANT LATER LIVING DEVELOPMENT IN HACKBRIDGE AND SHARES HIS PLANS FOR THE AREA WITH WELCOMING RESIDENTS
Bobby Dean, the Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton and Wallington, spent the morning with staff and residents at the Brio Retirement Living development, Button House in Hackbridge, to learn more about the vibrant later living community and share his plans for the future during a Q&A session.
Bobby, who lives close to the Brio development with his wife Gemma, also a Liberal Democrat Councillor for St Helier East, has a personal affinity to later living offerings due to being cared for by his grandparents during his teenage years and beyond.
Bobby was keen to discuss the wide variety of wellbeing offerings at Button House including its commitment to mental health through initiatives such as exercise programs, events, green spaces, and nutrition-focused catering by the inhouse Slate and Grain chefs. As Sutton Council’s former Mental Health Champion, Bobby established the ‘Be Well Hubs’ scheme, providing safe spaces within community organisations for individuals seeking mental health support. The team shared details of the activities that are on offer, and residents shared details of the joy they bring to them.
Karl Mlynarczyk, General Manager at Button House, shared: “We were thrilled to welcome Bobby to our development here in Hackbridge. He knows the area well and it was fantastic to hear his future plans for the area. Bobby enjoyed chatting to some of our residents who were keen to share their stories and learn more about the future plans for Hackbridge and how they will improve their lives in the future too.
“Bobby was keen to talk about his passion for Social Care Investment and how vibrant communities like ours here at Button House promote active lifestyles – potentially alleviating pressures on the care system and the NHS. It was a delight to welcome him, and we look forward to another visit in the not-so-distant future.”
The residents at Button House enjoyed the Q&A session with Bobby Dean where they covered an array of topics that directly affect the community including proposals for dropped pavements, accessibility for mobility aids, council tax rates and energy bills. Bobby was also given a tour of the development and its facilities, whilst he concluded his visit by enjoying informal chats with staff and residents who also shared how wonderful the onsite Slate and Grain brasserie chef Harish is, prompting the MP to commit to another visit soon to sample the delicious menu.
