A Fish’s Journey: From Dalian to London, Xi Home Celebrates the Flavours of Home

This autumn, Xi Home Dumplings Bay will launch A Fish’s Journey, a five-dish menu celebrating Spanish mackerel – a fish deeply rooted
in the culture and cuisine of Dalian, the north-eastern Chinese coastal city where founder Wenjun Xiang grew up.

Running from 1st September to 30th November 2026, the menu traces the journey of mackerel from Dalian to London, exploring how food
can carry memories of home across borders and generations

At its heart is the Spanish Mackerel Potsticker, handmade with a traditional mackerel filling and pan-fried until crisp and golden.
In addition, Crispy Aubergine with Spanish Mackerel Filling puts a playful spin on a familiar Chinese home-cooking favourite, while Tomato-Braised Spanish Mackerel with Cornbread offers a comforting, home-style sharing dish with rich tomato sauce and cornbread
for dipping.

Rounding out the menu are Di San Xian Dumplings, filled with aubergine, potato and green pepper, and Black Truffle Soup Dumplings,
which bring a note of indulgence with hot savoury broth, pork and black truffle.

Wenjun Xiang, Founder of Xi Home, says: “In Dalian, mackerel is not a special-occasion fish. It is what you find in someone’s kitchen
in season, minced into dumpling filling, and it is one of the first things I think of when I think of home. Putting it at the centre of this menu was a way of bringing something ordinary and precious with me.”
