A New Chapter in Travel Inspiration: Travellers Tales Opens in Marylebone

Travellers Tales, an immersive new concept combining a curated travel bookshop with bespoke journey design, opens its doors on 6 December in the heart of Marylebone. Created for curious minds and adventurous spirits, the boutique space invites visitors to explore the world through literature and embark on their own extraordinary journey.

Part cultural destination, part specialist travel consultancy, Travellers Tales offers a meticulously selected library of large-format photography books, expert guides, rare editions and evocative novels. If a destination on the shelves sparks a travel dream, the in-house team – with more than 75 years’ collective experience – will transform that inspiration into a personally tailored itinerary.

From Arctic expeditions and conservation-focused safaris to culinary journeys across South America, private vineyard tours in Europe and design-led escapes to Asia, the team has crafted exceptional trips across every corner of the globe. Every experience is entirely bespoke, drawing on extensive insider knowledge, trusted global contacts and a commitment to delivering seamless, meaningful travel.

“Books have always been catalysts for adventure,” says founder Jayne Alexander, a renowned figure in luxury travel. “The right story, photograph or sentence can transport you thousands of miles. Travellers Tales was born from the belief that inspiration and action should sit side by side. A place where you can discover the world on the page and then go out and experience it for yourself.”

Inside the Marylebone store, guests are encouraged to browse, read, plan and converse. The team can recommend the perfect book, offer destination guidance and arrange a one-to-one consultation to bring travel plans to life, whether for milestone celebrations, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, spontaneous escapes or honeymoons. Itineraries may include exclusive access to museums and galleries, private culinary encounters, meetings with local experts, hidden restaurant recommendations and, where desired, private jet or superyacht charters.

All trips are designed and protected with full peace of mind through ABTA-licensed partners. Travellers Tales is also committed to supporting global conservation, donating to WildAid, and championing the power of reading through contributions to BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity.

The shop itself is set to become a cultural hub, hosting intimate salons, readings and conversations with authors, photographers, historians, artists and musicians. Guests can also explore a thoughtful gifting collection, including rare books, artisan stationery from Florence, leather-bound journals and bespoke travel registries, with luxury wrapping available in store.

“Travellers Tales is designed to feel like a second home — a place where ideas ignite,” adds Alexander. “We want people to come in, pull up a chair, talk to us, dream with us — and then go and write the next chapter of their own story.”

Travellers Tales opens in Marylebone and online on 6 December 2025, with a digital platform offering book recommendations, travel features and expert insight.
