Al Dente launches its new restaurant in Angel in April 2024

Calling all the nostalgic of the Eternal City; from the first week of April, food lovers in the northern fringes of Central London will have a new place to meet, eat and share their passion for the Roman culinary art at the new location of Al Dente in Angel.

The new opening, located at 4a Upper Street, aligns with Al Dente’s dedication to sharing authentic Italian cuisine and its promise to provide a high-quality dining experience at an affordable price, for the joy of the many Italian food enthusiasts in London.

With this addition to its portfolio, Al Dente will total four eateries in the capital, plus a ghost kitchen, offering fresh pasta made daily.

A truly authentic dining experience

In the new Angel restaurant, like in all other Al Dente’s locations, each pasta dish will reflect Italy’s renowned tradition. The 70 square metres dine-in eatery will indulge its guests, for lunch and dinner, in an immersive food journey featuring dishes from several Italian regions, with a distinctive focus on the authentic Roman pasta tradition.

The heart of the experience lies, in fact, in the iconic Roman favourites like Carbonara, Amatriciana, and Cacio e Pepe, evoking nostalgic memories of dining in the Eternal City.

True to Al Dente’s philosophy since its inception, Angel’s restaurant will offer original ingredients, genuine flavours, generous portions, and affordable prices in an informal, convivial atmosphere. Everything is designed to recreate the most authentic spirit of the Roman dining experience.

Introducing the ‘Gricia’

In celebration of the new opening in Angel, Al Dente will please the Italian food afficionados with a special pasta dish: la Gricia! Usually available by delivery only, this true icon of Roman cuisine will be on the new menu for one month from its scheduled opening date set in the first week of April. As the real pasta experts might know already, the Gricia is referred to as the less famous sister of Carbonara and the mother of Amatriciana.

Even if often overlooked in traditional Roman cuisine abroad, the Gricia has captured the hearts of pasta enthusiasts and offers a delightful heartwarming alternative for those who reminisce about their journey to the Eternal City. Crafted with guanciale, pecorino Romano, black pepper, and pasta water, Gricia epitomises the essence of authentic Roman cuisine and culinary heritage. Make sure not to miss out on it!

A growing family

Al Dente has been spreading the love for authentic and fresh pasta across the city since 2018. Having adopted a cohesive yet unique approach, the ‘House of Fresh Pasta’ was able to meet the various dining preferences of food lovers in London, including takeaway and delivery. This approach has so far been reflected in the following locations:

Goodge Street – the first restaurant where the journey began opened in 2018, and it balances takeaway convenience with sit-down sophistication, catering particularly to the officegoers.
Monument – the second restaurant opened in 2021 focuses primarily on takeaways, especially given its strategic location in the City.
South Kensington – the flagship restaurant, which launched in 2022, offers a premium dining experience, showcasing pasta-making artistry in an upscale setting.
A ghost kitchen in Hackney aligns with contemporary trends, ensuring seamless delivery services for all customers across the city.
