Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust has been recognised at the 2026 Blue Badge Access Awards, winning the ‘Best Day Out’ category at the ceremony held in London on Thursday 30 April 2026. Alexandra Palace was also named a finalist in the ‘Best Venue in a Historic Building’ category.
The Blue Badge Access Awards celebrate venues, organisations and individuals delivering exceptional, inclusive and innovative accessibility experiences for disabled visitors.
Over recent years, Alexandra Palace has delivered a transformative accessibility programme across its Grade II listed site, becoming one of the UK’s leading accessible cultural destinations. Alexandra Palace has invested significantly in facilities, staff training and inclusive experiences to ensure the Palace is accessible to all.
As a charity, Alexandra Palace is affectionately known as the “People’s Palace”, a place where culture, community and creativity have come together for generations. In 2025, Alexandra Palace became the third venue in the UK to achieve Platinum status from Attitude is Everything’s Live Events Access Charter, the UK’s leading disability-led charity, for improving access to live events. More than 250 staff members across the organisation, including senior leadership, operational teams and contractors have completed accessibility awareness and customer care training.
Alexandra Palace now offers step-free access, numerous accessible toilets, a state-of-the-art Changing Places facility, expanded accessible viewing platforms, dedicated accessible entrances, sensory support provisions and specialist accessibility-trained staff at every event. The venue also delivers BSL interpreted concerts, captioned and audio-described performances, companion tickets and a wide range of accessible digital resources and guides.
Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust also works closely with disabled communities and local organisations including Disability Action Haringey. In 2025, Alexandra Palace was recognised by the Research Institute of Disabled Consumers as a leading venue for accessibility.
“We’re exceptionally proud to receive this award,” said Jack Brooks, Head of Visitor Services at Alexandra Palace. “We are committed to making Alexandra Palace truly accessible to everyone, and to continually learning and improving, from the very first moment a visitor engages with us through to their experience onsite. This award reflects the passion, dedication and collaboration of teams across the organisation, embedding accessibility into all that we do.”
Alexandra Palace is one of the UK’s most distinctive and historically significant cultural landmarks. Its purpose is to enrich lives through great experiences, forever, welcoming visitors year-round across its events, attractions, parkland and public spaces.
