Appeal for information after cat found badly injured in west London

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat was found badly injured in west London.
A family found the young male cat on Bruce Close, just off Ladbroke Grove, at around 9am on Tuesday 3 September. The poor cat was found surrounded by broken chair legs and was suffering from catastrophic head injuries, including prolapsed eyes.

He was taken to a vet where his injuries were so serious the sad decision was taken to euthanise him and end his suffering.

Animal Rescue Officer Ellie Barnes-Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a truly distressing discovery for the person who found the cat. Signs suggest that he was a victim to serious intentional harm. The majority of his injuries were not consistent with a road traffic accident.”

The RSPCA is appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on Bruce Close on the morning of 3 September to contact the Metropolitan Police. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

“This is a heartbreaking case,” Ellie added. “It’s appalling to think that someone could carry out such a cruel act. This was someone’s beloved pet – we have contacted the owners and they are absolutely devastated.”
