Apple TV+ marks the launch of “Slow Horses” season three with a Thames River warning for London’s espionage set

Apple TV+ marked the third season return of darkly funny espionage drama “Slow Horses” last night, with an illuminated pontoon creaking up and down the Thames River past London’s most historic sites and festive Christmas markets before heading to the landmark secret service building with its ‘3rd Time Unlucky’ message for the agents therein. This was a warning: don’t make a mistake or Jackson Lamb will give you something utterly pointless to do for the rest of your career, just like the other slow horses. The pontoon even had a cryptic message for aspiring spies – three random words, and a code to crack: ///phones.escape.filed. The highly anticipated new six-episode season of “Slow Horses” made its global debut on Wednesday, November 29 with two episodes, to be followed by one episode a week until December 27.

“Slow Horses” follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House. Academy Award winner Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but misanthropic leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes, as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world. In season three, a romantic liaison in Istanbul threatens to expose a buried MI5 secret in London. When Jackson Lamb and his team of misfits are dragged into the fight, they find themselves caught in a conspiracy that threatens the future not just of Slough House but of MI5 itself.
