Barratt London Brings Festive Cheer to Newham with Socially Distanced Carol Performance

On Sunday 6th December, Barratt London hosted Get Gospel, BBC Gospel Choir of the Year Finalists, at its Upton Gardens development on Thunderer Street, E13. The choir sang a socially distanced arrangement of a cappella Christmas carols, whilst residents watched and sang along from their balconies and doorways.

Six performers from Get Gospel (Jules Rendell, Emily Holligan, James Philip, Ricardo Castro, Esther Adjepong and Miça Townsend) performed at the site. The choir have previously been featured by BBC Radio 2, BBC 1Xtra, BBC London, BBC Berkshire, Dr. Oetker, Coke TV, Pilgrim’s Choice Commercial and The Calais Sessions.

Jules Rendell, songwriter, artist and founder of Get Gospel, said: “During such a strange and difficult time, it was great to be able to spread some festive cheer with the residents of Upton Gardens. We hope everyone is now in the Christmas spirit and ready to celebrate safely with their friends and family.”

Pam Reardon, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt East London, commented: “We’re so pleased to have been able to provide such a fantastic Christmas event for our residents at Upton Gardens, whilst all keeping socially distant and within the Government guidelines. At Barratt London we believe community is incredibly important, more than ever this year, and we hope the event gave everyone at the development the chance to safely enjoy Get Gospel’s brilliant performance from their own doorsteps.”

Upton Gardens is built on the former West Ham Football Club ground, situated in Upton Park, in the borough of Newham, east London. West Ham F.C. played at the ground from 1904 to 2016, when it relocated to Stratford. Located in Zone 3, Upton Gardens is within a six-minute walk from Upton Park Tube station offering fast connections to central London in under 15 minutes. The surrounding area has been part of a post-London Olympics regeneration project, with investment continuing to improve the local landscape. Residents can enjoy a range of independent shops, fruit and veg stalls, bakeries and restaurants, alongside traditional pubs and an abundance of green spaces.
