Barratt London has donated £1,500 to Daniel’s Den, a charity that provides free playgroups and family activities for parents and children in the London Borough of Brent.
Founded in 1996 as a small parent and toddler group, Daniel’s Den now works with around 1,000 families a year through 12 weekly playgroups and outreach activities. The sessions create a safe, nurturing environment for pre-school children to play, learn and practise social skills, while parents meet new friends and become part of a community.
Run mainly by trained volunteers, Daniel’s Den received a transformative grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities fund in 2019. Although the funds supported the charity’s expansion, it relies on charitable donations to continue its work with the local community, including sessions for parents and children seeking asylum.
Joanna Gordon, founder and CEO of Daniel’s Den, said: “We are very grateful for the support of The Barratt Foundation; donations like this help us to extend our work supporting family life in Brent and beyond. Our vision is not only to provide safe spaces for parents and children to spend quality time together, but we want to continue to train and empower volunteers and raise awareness countrywide about the value of toddler groups as vital community infrastructure.”
Yolanda Jacob-Foster, Director of Sales and Marketing at Barratt London, said: “Daniel’s Den is right at the heart of the London Borough of Brent, supporting young children and their families to have brighter, happier lives. The fantastic charity is just a short walk from our Wembley Park Gardens development, and we are very proud to support them in their aim to ensure a parent and toddler group is accessible for every family in the area.”
Barratt London is currently building 302 new apartments at Wembley Park Gardens in north-west London.
