BERKSHIRE HOMEBUILDER COMES TO PLAY IN CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL AWARENESS DAY
Leading Berkshire developer David Wilson Homes has celebrated National Playday (4th August) by highlighting the importance of providing public open space and space to play at its developments.
The Hungerford-based homebuilder created 5.1 hectares of greenspace through public open spaces and private gardens across its developments in Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire during the financial year up to 30th June 2020. This is the equivalent of more than seven of Reading’s football pitches at the Madejski Stadium.
These include the communities at Newbury Racecourse and Cherry Blossom Meadow in Newbury, Croft Gardens in Reading, Landmark Square in Wokingham and the now-sold-out Montague Park development, also in Wokingham.
Building open space, some of which includes play areas, is an important part of creating a neighbourhood at David Wilson Homes’ developments.
National Playday is a celebration of children’s right to play, and highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. The 2021 theme, ‘Summer of Play’, recognises the challenges children and young people have faced over the past year and the need to enjoy time for play with their friends, having fun.
Rob Allen, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “Open spaces and play areas are incredibly important as they provide places for children, both new residents and from the existing community, to play in a safe space outside their homes.
“This means our developments become more than just bricks and mortar, but leave a lasting legacy for the future generations.
“We’re delighted that we can say we have provided over 5.1 hectares of greenspace; some of which with equipped play grounds for children on and around our developments.”
