Buckles delivers another year of significant growth

Nationally recognised law firm Buckles has delivered its highest ever annual revenue of £17.4M, at the end of financial year March 2024. Demonstrating the strength of the strategic growth plan implemented in 2018, the result represents a 17.7% increase on the previous record year.

Combining organic growth from significant new client wins in the banking sector and the acquisition of new teams in offices in Bristol and Swindon in October, gave the latter half of the year a boost, but the overall performance represents growth in all service lines and sectors.

Buckles Chief Executive Duncan Jackson commented: “Given an industry average growth of 6.8%, delivering almost 11% above that figure shows what an exceptional year our teams have delivered. Our performance is ahead of expectations and this has been the single biggest year-on-year jump in revenue the firm has reported.

“We recognise we still have work to do to achieve wider recognition of the talented team we have assembled for its technical excellence, market leading client care and ability to create and maintain the long-term client relationships that have driven this growth. But progress is good.

“Acquiring new teams in Bristol and Swindon, the team in Nottingham outgrowing their existing offices and major hires, such as Phillippa O’Neill, Ben Fox and Sharon Sherriff, demonstrate the strength of our offering is attracting not only good clients, but talented legal professionals too.

“The year ahead will again see us identify and recruit partner-level lateral hires that move us forward in our chosen sectors, but always with an eye for opportunities to deliver rapid growth, such as we successfully managed this past year.”

In the six years since implementing the strategic growth plan, the firm’s senior management team has overseen a more aggressive, yet focussed approach to growth in all sectors, which has seen the firm increase its headcount to more than 230 and double revenue over that period.

Buckles Chairman Colleen Gostick concludes: “Our strategic plan evolves to reflect the changing needs of our clients and this past year we launched our client onboarding team, whilst putting the finishing touches to a new practice management system rollout, all designed to improve the client engagement process.

“To move forwards you sometimes have to take a sideways or backwards step, but our commitment to making our clients’ needs, the focus of every decision we make, will ensure we continue to attract the repeat business and positive feedback that has helped Buckles grow so strongly, so quickly.”
