London-based social enterprise launches free meeting space to help charity sector workspace crisis

In the face of mounting financial pressures across the charity sector, PPL, the leading social enterprise management consultancy in the UK, is opening a free space for charities and changemakers to use in central London.

With soaring rent and limited options across the city, charities have few options when it comes to well-located and affordable workspaces in London. The Hub will be opened by Rt Hon. Baroness
Hilary Armstrong and Anood Al-Samerai, CEO at Community Southwark.

The Hub, based in Southwark, is being launched as part of PPL’s mission to encourage conversations, and take practical action to tackle social challenges faced by people in the UK. The
120 square metres of open office and meeting space is free of charge for charities and not-for-profits to use for meetings, presentations, and co-working with colleagues.

Claire Kennedy, Joint Chief Executive at PPL, explains: “We are really excited to introduce this free space to central London as part of our mission to connect organisations and individuals
doing work that really matters. This is an initiative to channel the power of in-person creativity and collaboration to get the best out of the important work being done by charities and not-for-profits across the UK.”

Diabetes UK, Women’s Health Advocacy Network, the Fragile X Society, and Read Easy Southwark are all examples of organisations that have used The PPL Hub for free.

Kyla Goody, Coordinator at Read Easy Southwark, added: “The space is perfect – it enabled us to deliver some really stimulating talks and discussions – and best of all it gave us the opportunity
to bring together all our coaches and our management team. In a world where we invariably meet on-line, the chance to meet face to face to talk about ideas and to get to know one another is so rare. Its value cannot be overstated.”
