Shake off the winter blues with a night of music, dancing and unmistakeably Scottish celebration as the much-loved Burns Night Ceilidh returns to Woolwich Works on Saturday 24 January.
Hosted at the atmospheric Woolwich Works, the annual event celebrates the life and legacy of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns with a high-energy evening of traditional folk music, lively group-oriented dance and plenty of good cheer.
Leading the night is the hugely popular Wraggle Taggle Ceilidh Band, known for their infectious sound and joyful live performances. A live caller will guide dancers through each step, making the evening perfect for complete beginners, as well as seasoned ceilidh fans. No partner or prior experience is needed, just bring comfortable shoes and a willingness to join in and get involved.
Ceilidh dancing is famously sociable and inclusive, making it ideal for friends, couples, solo dancers and anyone looking for a fun and friendly night out that’s a little different to the norm. With a bar open throughout the evening and a buzzing dancefloor guaranteed, it’s set to be one of Woolwich Works’ most-anticipated nights of the winter.
The Burns Night Ceilidh forms part of Woolwich Works’ vibrant social and dance programme, offering accessible, community-focused events in one of South East London’s most distinctive cultural and entertainment venues.
Nick Williams, Director at Woolwich Works said: “Our Burns Night Ceilidh is one of those brilliant nights where everyone leaves smiling, whether they are attended their first ceilidh or are a seasoned pro. It’s lively, welcoming and a wonderful way to kick off the year with something fun and social, and it’s a night that really captures what Woolwich Works is about.”
