Calong, the petite neighbourhood restaurant in Stoke Newington, has launched a new menu for the summer months. Following its Bib Gourmand award and a string of glowing recommendations, including the Financial Times Best New London Restaurants of 2025, husband-and-wife owners Joo and Sujin are introducing a vibrant new summer menu that showcases the very best of the season through Calong’s distinctive Korean lens.
Joo (previously head chef maintaining a Michelin star at Galvin at Window) and Sujin (The Wolseley, The Delaunay, Fischer’s Marylebone) have created three new dishes that celebrate peak summer produce while continuing Calong’s innovative fusion of French and European techniques with Korean flavours.
The new menu items include:
A colourful summer vegetable salad paired with sweet melon, smoked tofu cream and a punchy doenjang vinaigrette
Roast saddle of lamb served with silky aubergine, vibrant cucumber kimchi and a tangy olive jus
A refreshing strawberry and plum jelly trifle accompanied by fragrant oolong tea ice cream, sure to be a showstopper with Joo and Sujin’s dessert expertise as pastry chefs
These seasonal additions join Calong’s much-loved menu favourites, including Joo’s fried chicken with sweet chili and peanut, kimchi fritters with chilli mayonnaise, and chalk stream trout in a sesame and plum soy sauce. Complete the experience with Calong’s carefully curated selection of low-intervention wines from independent producers from all over the globe – there is even a hidden wine cellar for those curious enough to ask.
In just a year and a half, Calong has established itself as one of London’s most exciting neighbourhood restaurants, earning industry acclaim while remaining rooted in its fusion flavours and exceptional technique. The arrival of the summer menu offers yet another reason to visit, and with just 30 covers, securing a table at Calong is becoming increasingly sought-after.
