Celebrate 200 Years of Canada’s Capital with Air Transat’s newly launched non-stop flights

Air Transat, the award-winning Canadian leisure airline, is inviting UK travellers to discover Canada’s capital like never before with its recently launched non-stop service between London Gatwick and Ottawa. The launch comes at a particularly significant moment for Ottawa as the city commemorates its 200th anniversary, with a year-long programme of celebrations, cultural events and community activities showcasing two centuries of history, innovation and Canadian identity.

Operating seasonally up to three times weekly between London Gatwick and Ottawa International Airport, the new route marks the first direct connection between Gatwick and Canada’s capital, creating a convenient link between two capital cities and providing seamless access to one of North America’s most vibrant and historic destinations.

Located at the meeting point of Ontario and Québec, Ottawa offers visitors a unique blend of history, culture and outdoor experiences. Highlights include Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Canadian Museum of History, the National Gallery of Canada and a thriving programme of festivals and events throughout the year. The city’s year-long “Celebrate Together” bicentennial includes a narrated bike tour through the Bytown, the heart of Ottawa, historical storytelling workshops with the Historical Society of Ottawa as well as the Ottawa CityFolk Festival at Hog’s Back Park or multiday performances at LeBreton Flats for the annual Ottawa Bluesfest.

The addition of the new Ottawa service, takes the total number of non-stop flights operated by Air Transat from the UK to Canada up to 34 per week in the peak season. Non-stop flights to Toronto are available from London Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow year-round while travellers can also fly to Montréal non-stop from London Gatwick in the summer.
