Celebrations at Vanguard School as Students Receive GCSE Results

There were smiles and celebrations this morning as Year 11 students at Vanguard School, a special school for autistic children and young people in Lambeth, collected their GCSE results.

Part of the Liberty Academy Trust, the school is celebrating the progress and achievements of its Year 11s. Each student has worked hard to complete a learning programme designed around their individual strengths, needs, and aspirations.

Students sat a number of GCSEs across a focused range of subjects. These results reflect not only academic achievement but also the confidence, determination, and personal growth developed throughout their time at the school. Students are now preparing to take their next steps into college, training or other post-16 pathways.

Some of the students celebrating today include:

Alex Steele who achieved 7 GCSEs, with particularly impressive grades in History, Mathematics and Combined Science alongside Citizenship, Computer Science and English Language. Throughout his journey at Vanguard, Alex has demonstrated a real interest and commitment, and his continued hard work and revision has clearly paid off. During results day, Alex’s parents said, ‘It’s great to know that he gets what he wants to do next!’

A special mention also goes to Oliver Goddard who has showed real enthusiasm and dedication to his studies. While travelling abroad, his suitcase was intentionally packed with revision guides. His results in Biology and English Literature particularly are a testimony to his resilience and enthusiasm. As Oliver continues his educational journey at Vanguard, his teachers are confident he will continue to succeed.

James Hobbs has shown purpose and maturity throughout his time at Vanguard and has shown a high level of resilience applying himself to a personalised revision schedule in the run up to his exams. He leaves Vanguard with an impressive set of GCSEs, including English Language, English Literature, History, Maths and Combined Science. Good luck, James, as he moves onto college and further study at Kingston College.

Headteacher Rachael Clements said:
“We are incredibly proud of our students for everything they’ve achieved. These results reflect not only academic learning, but also the confidence, resilience and independence that our young people have built during their time with us. It’s been a privilege to watch them grow and succeed. I’d like to thank our dedicated staff team and families for the unwavering support they’ve given along the way.”
