Chick ’n’ Sours the cult fried-chicken phenomenon is officially coming home.
While most people might be talking turkey at this time of year, Chick ’n’ Sours has been focused on something a little closer to home: bringing its fried chicken back to the neighbourhood that helped shape it.
The cult fried-chicken outfit—born at a festival, raised on good times, and backed by a loyal crowd across London—will launch a three-month residency at The Crown & Castle in Dalston from Wednesday 10 December.
The move marks a return to Kingsland Road, not far from the spot where Chick ’n’ Sours first made its name. The Crown & Castle is perfectly placed right in the heart of Dalston, just steps from Dalston Junction station, making it an ideal base for their comeback.
Chick ’n’ Sours originally opened up the road in Haggerston in 2015, pushing fried chicken into bolder, crunchier, more characterful territory.
The small site quickly became something more than a restaurant: a laid-back hangout layered with positive energy, late-night vibes, and a loyal local following. After closing the doors to its Haggerston restaurant earlier this year, the return to the area carries a quiet sense of homecoming.
The residency will feature the dishes that helped build the brand’s reputation—fried chicken sandwiches stacked high and dripping with sauce, wings in head-turning glazes, tenders dusted in the signature seaweed “crack” seasoning, and sides that continue to be widely copied but rarely matched. Also featuring on the menu will be a much loved C’n’S classics section including faves such as Szechuan Aubergine, Mexinese Nachos & the iconic Chicken Toast.
Every piece of chicken is still brined, hand-breaded, and twice cooked, staying true to the method that put Chick ’n’ Sours on the map.
A spokesperson for The Crown & Castle said: “Chick ’n’ Sours brings a flavour and attitude that suits this part of East London perfectly. Having them back in Dalston feels like welcoming a familiar face home.”
Co-founder David Wolanski added: “Following on from the closure of the restaurants and the success of our residency at Big Chill, returning to Kingsland Road means a lot. This area is a huge part of the Chick ’n’ Sours story, and it feels right to be cooking here again. We can’t wait to see some familiar old faces again and introducing newbies to the Chick N Sours experience. ”
Chick ’n’ Sours will be serving throughout the three-month pop-up at the following times: (Mon–Thu: 5pm–9pm, Fri–Sat: 12pm–10pm, Sun: 12pm–8pm).
The residency will operate on a walk-ins only basis—no bookings—keeping things relaxed and accessible.
With a warm neighbourhood feel, great drinks, and that unmistakable Dalston buzz, The Crown & Castle provides an ideal setting for this next chapter—whether guests are diving into wings with friends, grabbing a fried chicken sandwich at the bar, or settling in for a proper feast.
Chick ’n’ Sours is back where it belongs—and E8 has just regained a flavour it’s been missing.
