CITY OF LONDON PUB LEASE SOLD THROUGH CHRISTIE & CO

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the leasehold sale of The Arbitrager public house in the City of London.

The Arbitrager, a well-known pub in the heart of the City, has entered a new chapter as its lease has been taken over by Tony and Catherine Bennett of Little Teapot Taverns. The Bennetts, who also operate the historic Devereux in Temple, have signalled their continued commitment to London’s pub heritage and plan to bring a refreshed yet authentic experience at one of the Square Mile’s most recognisable pubs.

Former lease owner, Paul Matthew from Blood and Sand Limited said, “Pub and bar ownership isn’t for the faint hearted, and requires energy and focus. After 19 years, ours had become directed elsewhere, and at this challenging time for hospitality, we decided to call it. Christie & Co quickly helped us find a number of options, making it a straightforward choice.”

Tony and Catherine Bennett from Little Teapot Taverns Limited said, “We loved resurrecting the Devereux back into a traditional London pub, and we can’t wait to do the same with the Arbitrager. It’s a privilege to be able to take on such a special site in the heart of the City.”

David Wilson, Associate Director at Christie & Co who managed the sale process, said, “We are delighted to announce the leasehold sale of the Arbitrager. The lease of this wet-led public house received strong interest from independent operators and proves just how strong the demand is for pub businesses across London in high footfall areas. With such high demand from buyers, we would encourage leasehold owners of bar and restaurant businesses across London to get in touch for specialist marketing advice.”

The lease was sold off an asking price of £100,000.
